Shriveled String of Pearls: Read Leaf Windows, Soil, and Roots

Wrinkling is a water-balance signal, not automatic proof that the plant should be watered. The pearls soften evenly, their windows look narrower, the pot is light, and the mix is dry through the occupied root zone.

1. Record whether the evidence begins in the crown, one trail, one exposure side, or the whole plant.
2. Check pot weight, deeper moisture, drainage, roots, stem firmness, light direction, and node junctions.
3. Preserve a photographed baseline before removing damaged material.
4. Test one supported correction and evaluate new nodes.

Existing brown, yellow, collapsed, or scarred pearls will not reverse. Look for stopped spread, firm stems, stable roots, and compact new pearls.

• When you confirm water reserves declining after a genuine dry-down, water the confirmed dry occupied root zone thoroughly and drain.
• When you confirm damaged roots unable to supply leaves, inspect roots rather than repeatedly wetting failed tissue.
• When you confirm localized heat and light stress, move the affected trails out of concentrated heat and acclimate light.
